When we say "on-chain" we are referring to the main Bitcoin blockchain. To reduce fees and include more features, Bitcoiners have made other networks that utilize the Bitcoin blockchain (the next section will talk about the Lightning Network)

Sending Bitcoin on L1:

3. Enter the recipient’s wallet address or scan the QR code if you’re using the web wallet on your phone. Enter the amount of satoshis (sats) you want to send, choose the transaction fee rate, and click ‘Next’.

4. On the next step, you can double-check your transaction details, and once you are satisfied, click ‘Confirm’.

5. Congratulations! You have made your first Bitcoin L1 transfer in BitMask.

6. Now you can check the status of your payment on the Mempool. Click ‘View Transaction on Mempool’.

2. Press ‘Send’ and choose ‘Send Bitcoin on-chain’ for L1 Bitcoin transactions. Keep in mind that BitMask is a Taproot wallet, and Bitcoin can only be sent to other Taproot-supported wallets. Here is a list of Taproot-supported wallets: .

Put in the address, the amount in sats, a personal note, and fee rate for your on-chain transaction
Confirm your transaction details to make sure you didn't make a mistake
Congratulations! The transaction has been broadcasted and on its way to being confirmed.
